A Designated Duty Engineer Unlimited (DDE Unlimited) - Motors is a critical role within a vessel's engineering team, responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the ship’s motor propulsion systems and auxiliary equipment. DDEs in this role oversee complex machinery, ensuring that all systems function safely and efficiently. Their responsibilities include conducting in-depth inspections, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, supervising engine room operations, and maintaining detailed logs in compliance with maritime safety standards. This position requires a solid understanding of marine engineering principles and expertise in motor systems and related technical skills.
This course is a self-paced online program designed to meet the standard classroom requirements for DDE Unlimited - Motors certification. Students have one year to complete the course. Upon completion you may present your course certificate to the U.S. Coast Guard within one year in lieu of Coast Guard examinations. This certificate will satisfy the examination requirements of 46 CFR 11.524 for the national endorsement as a Designated Duty Engineer Unlimited – Motors.
